First Survivor: The Impossible Childhood Cancer Breakthrough

First Survivor: The Impossible Childhood Cancer Breakthrough is the story of 3-year-old Louis Unger’s four year battle with neuroblastoma and his family’s attempts to procure the best possible care for him.
If you or a loved is battling cancer, or other life-threatening diagnoses, this book is a fantastic guide to navigating the medical world. While it chronicles their specific experience, the tools and approaches they took as a family can be useful for any situation. Every medical diagnosis will be different, as will every treatment. But there are some solid principles outlined in this book that should be helpful to anyone hoping to be a patient advocate (their own or a loved-one’s).
I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking to learn more about patient advocacy and to hear the great story of Louis’s recovery.
