This is the gripping story of Will Jamison, a pro baseball player turned World War II soldier, turned veteran trying to find his place in baseball and the world. Things go off the rails quickly for Will upon returning from the War.

The book has great pacing and Will Jamison is compelling as the protagonist. It is a thoughtful piece of historical fiction that puts a human context on the cost and meaning of war.

If you enjoy history, and especially historical fiction, this novel is for you. It is an interesting spin on the average World War II historical fiction novel and includes a lot of context for a war that is too often only thought of in the abstract.
