The Bag Boys’ Jihad: A Bioterrorism Thriller

The Bag Boys’ Jihad: A Bioterrorism Thriller is the follow-up to The Warring States Conundrum. I read and reviewed the first book in this series a couple of months ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved the premise of a medical detective and really grew to love the protagonist Winston (Win) Sage.
This follow-up continues in the same vein of a novel with an unique flavor and feel from other thrillers and mysteries out there right now.
The plot revolves around an epidemic that Win spots early and begins to tie the epidemic to a larger-scale planned bio-terrorist attack using grocery store bag boys to infect the country with cholera, E. coli, among other possibilities. The book has endearing characters, especially Win’s wife.
Just like the previous book, this story has real heart, is thrilling from beginning to end, and has characters that are fleshed-out, fun, and relatable. Even when they are not relatable, they are realistic and add to the dynamism of the story.
The intermingling of science, medical science, bioterrorism, mystery, and thrilling action is as refreshing as it is captivating. I found myself being pulled into the story quickly and not wanting to put it down until I had finished the whole thing.
All-in-all, this was a fantastic read that I would recommend to anyone who loves thrillers and detective work. While it might be helpful to have read the first novel, it is not critical to following the plot to this second in the series. It is a solid read that I think you will really enjoy.
